Hailstones Hovering in the Air

In which we reach the final stretch of Masekhet Berakhot — this ninth chapter is really something else (though we don’t quite feel that on today’s daf).

That said, we begin with the entirety of the mishnah that pertains to this perek, and the topics are far-ranging — if all bringing us back, appropriately, to the topic of blessings.

From tefilot shav (when prayer is in vain) to uprooting the Torah for the sake of enhancing our observance of the Torah to making a blessing at the site of all kinds of miraculous miracles to thanking God via blessing (Birkat HaGomel) when we are saved from some dangerous situations…. there’s a lot here, and our (slightly longer) episode reflects that (don’t get used to the extra time though!).
