Chapter 3! A situation of rape… Which was treated differently back in the day. In this mishnah, the penalty that a man who rapes a girl (whose presumptive status is that she’s a virgin) needs to pay to her father. Plus, the penalty for engaging in an arayot relationship. Also, a dispute about the potential relationship between the man and the woman if the woman’s status is questionable – can a marriage between them take effect? Will it work? What about when there are kohanim involved? What if a widow was raped by the kohen gadol?
