The Advantages of Praying by Heart

In which the Gemara focuses on a whole lot of prayer. And so we discuss the Amidah, the addition of its 19th blessing, Birkat HaMinim (including why a blessing identifying the heretics was even a thing). And what it meant and means today to pray by heart. Plus a closer look at the “tefilah ketzarah” abridgement of the Amidah – and its relationship with Tefilat HaDerekh, the Traveler’s Prayer. Essentially, a prayerful day, with a lot of caveats.
